Residents have expressed frustration over the poor drainage system and lack of preparedness by the municipal authorities. Many families were forced to evacuate to higher ground or take shelter in nearby schools and community halls temporarily converted into relief centers.
The situation in the outskirts of Bhopal is equally concerning. Villages surrounding the city have reported damage to crops, especially soybeans and pulses, due to excessive water accumulation in fields. Farmers have appealed to the government for immediate relief and compensation for the losses incurred. Power supply has also been erratic in several parts of the city and adjoining districts, with reports of electricity outages lasting more than 12 hours in some places.
Schools and colleges have been temporarily shut due to the unsafe conditions, and government offices have been operating at reduced capacity. Emergency services, including the NDRF and local disaster response teams, have been deployed to assist in rescue and relief operations. Efforts are underway to clear waterlogged roads and restore power and water supply in affected areas.
Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors unless necessary and to follow safety guidelines. With the weather department predicting more rainfall in the coming days, the administration remains on high alert.
